A capacity crowd at the Seaforth and District Arena greeted the local boys with enthusiasm. After a scoreless fust period Seaforth broke loose in the second. Rearguard Colin Devereaux blasted a shot just off the inside of the post to give Seaforth its first goal. Seaforth struck again when Wayne Schoonderwoerd scored on a Brad Moore pass. Fifteen seconds later Aylmer pulled within one but Shaun Ansteu outhustled several defenders to restore the two -goal lead. Jason Murray added -a short- handed goal for a 4-1 lead but Aylmer scored to pull within a pair. In the third period Aylmer scored early, only one goal behind Seaforth. With the pressure on Seaforth, Jason Murray answered the call by scoring .his second of the game. Seaforth's Adam Agar (and his defensive corps) stopped desper- ate attempts by Aylmer to get a goal. For insurance, Jason Murray scored a third goal with 23 seconds left to lock up the win. In the ensu- ing chaos, with debris on the ice and noise shaking the rafters, the referee called the game. SUCCESSFUL YEAR The Seaforth Midgets had a suc- cessful year, playing sixty games and finishing with a 46-10-4 record. They won the Kincardine tourna- ment, Wingham Regional Silver Stick and Mooretown Silver Stick Final. Seaforth placed second in the Pee Wees win A tough team from Seaforth put an end to the Goderich Lions Peewees' hopes of capturing the WOAA zone title two weeks ago sweeping the best -of -three series in two straight games. After winning game one in Goderich, Seaforth won game two on April 2. The Seaforth team came out strong and exhibited excellent skat- ing, checking and positional play in handing Goderich a 6-0 series end- ing loss. The Lions Peewees tried to shuffle lines in the hopes of coming up with a scoring combination, but the bounces didn't go their way. The Goderich Peewees to their credit handed out several good checks and had some good scoring chances. Seaforth native Dave McLlwain led the Ottawa Sena- tors to a 6-5 win over the Washington Capitals with two goals and an assist on Wednes- day night. Wed. April 6 In a home ice game against Washington, Dave scored one goal in the first period, had an assist in the second and scored his second goal in the third period. It was Ottawa's 14th win of the season. Thurs. April 7 McLlwain had no points in a 5-4 road game loss against the Boston Bruins. Sat. April 9 Dave had no points in an 8-4 road game loss against the Washington Capitals. Totals Dave now has 17 goals and 25 assists in 64 games with the Ottawa Senators for a total of 42 points. 'Mac' is only nine points away from his NHL career -high of 51 points with only three games remaining to play in the 1993-94 season with the Ottawa Senators. It is a record he almost certain- ly would have beaten if he had not suffered a separated shoulder at the end December and missed over a month of play.
