CWL names new executive The St. Columban Catholic Women's League (CWL) held its annual meeting on April 4 in the rectory meeting room. Karen Ryan, president, opened the meeting with the League prayer. Words of appreciation were spoken by Father J. Hardy. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Mary Lou Murray in the absence of Judy Jansen. An invitation was received from the Northside UCW, Seaforth to a Spring Thanksoffering at 8 p.m. on April 25. Linda Steinacher of Stratford will speak and show slides of Life in the Philippines. A successful bake auction was held after the Good Friday services. Thanks to Joe Visser and Bill Murray for a job well done. A donation wi!1 be sent to St. Anne's Parish in the Dominican Republic. On Wednesday afternoon some women from the C.W.L. visited the Maplewood Manor in Seaforth and helped 15 of the residents paint flower pots and plant a spring flower in them. Mary O'Connor spent Easter weekend in Randolph, New York with Marie De Gaust and Maureen and Mike Kan, Justin and Melissa of Ingersol. Michelle Ummels of Toronto spent Thursday, April 7 with her grandmother, Mary O'Connor. A special communion service was held on Thursday, March 31 with Reverend Stadelbauer-Sampa and Allan Rush. Musical entertainment this month was out of this world. For St. Patrick's day, the Huron Strings, dressed in their green attire, were on hand for an afternoon of "Irish" Residents always look forward to a visit from Jim Kelly who was dressed in green from head to toe. Eric Ross, son of Vera Ross, along with his two sons entertained residents with piano duets and singing. Max Ducharme and the Townliners were at Maplewood for another afternoon of song and dance. Residents have been waiting all winter to be able to shop for spring. Shinen's clothing set up shop at Maplewood to allow residents to get ready for Easter. Thank you is expressed to Mr. and Mrs. Foreman. Residents gathered around the television on Movie night to watch 'Homeward Bound,' an excellent show. Thanks go to Joanne Knight for sharing it with us. Birthday wishes for March go out to Floyd Rowat, Olive Smith, Hazel Dillon and Joe Lane.
