Police services promote
safety at home show
The Seafocth Police Services will
have a booth at this year's Home
and Garden Show, thanks to the
Seaforth Agricultural Society. The
booth is located next to the Cana-
dian Tire store booth. The emphasis
this year is on 'Child Safety'.
Canadian Tire has generously
invited Bert and Gert to assist the
police in bringing safety tips to
children. All children are invited to
attend the police booth for a free
gift. To assist parents in complying
with new bicycle helmet laws,
children can have their head
measured for a properly fitted
bicycle helmet. The Canadian Tire
Store booth next to the Police booth
will have both bicycles and helmets
on display. "We in the police
community appreciate the efforts
put forward by Canadian Tire
Associate Stores across Canada and
the individual effort put forward by
our local Canadian Tire Store in the
promotion of streetproofmg our
kids," said Hal Claus, Seaforth
Police Chief. "We expect to see and
talk to as many parents and children
as possible." The Home and Garden
Show runs until April 7 in the
Seaforth Agriculture Buildings.

Conservation group to
hold auction in Brussels
The Maitland Conservation Foun-
dation will hold its sixth annual
fund raising dinner and auction. A
roast beef dinner, live and silent
auctions, raffles and entertainment
will be part of the evening, on
Friday, April 22, at Brussels, Mor-
ris and Grey Community Centre in
Brussels.
Proceeds from the dinner will
support environmental education
activities at the Wawanosh Nature
Centre. Tickets are available by
calling 335-3557.
Over 250 people attended last
year's dinner. Local businesses and
individuals donated about 150
auction and raffle items. For infor-
mation on how to make a donation
call Diane Hahn at 347-2742.
The Wawanosh Nature Centre is
an environmental education facility
that has been operating for nine
years. About 5,000 students visit
the centre each year from Huron,
Penh, Bruce and Wellington County
schools. The centre provides oppor-
tunities for students to learn about
the environment and teaches the
need to manage and protect soil and
water resources. Activities are
available for students from kinder-
garten through grade ten. The
centre is located on concession
six/seven, Nature Centre Road, in
East Wawanosh Township. The
Maitland Valley Conservation Auth-
ority (MVCA) operates the centre.
The Maitland Conservation Foun-
dation is a registered, charitable,
nonprofit organization that supports
conservation projects undertaken by
the MVCA.
