Aylmer, however, was within one game of tying the series at three apiece last night (Tuesday). Seaforth had a chance to win the series at home or risk playing the deciding game in Aylmer. Results not available at press time. Midgets can taste victory BY BRAD MOORE After playing five games the Seaforth Midgets were poised to defeat Aylmer in the All -Ontario finals. A win last night at home (Tuesday) would guarantee the provincial championship. A loss would leave Seaforth in the difficult position of trying to win the decid- ing game in an opponent's arena. In contrast to the Seaforth-Exeter series the most recent match -up has been a high -scoring affair. SEAFORTH 6 - AYLMER 1 Jason Smith opened Seaforth's scoring in the first period on a beautiful pass from Dean Finnigan. Smith also scored the eventual winner in the second period. Aylmer pulled within one but netminder Adam Agar kept the game out of reach for Aylmer. Seaforth's Steve McInally took a cross -ice pass from Brad Moore and proceeded to tear the defence apart. McInally added another followed by singles from Shawn Anstett and Mike Hugill. SEAFORTH 6 - AYLMER 5 Thirty seconds into Friday's game Aylmer was up 1-0. Within another 30 seconds Aylmer was up by two. Seaforth responded on the powerplay with a Wayne Schoonderwoerd goal. Mike Hugill's goal tied the score. Aylmer again took the lead in the second period but Mike Smale replied with a goal. Jason Henderson gave Seaforth the lead only to see Aylmer again tie the game. Steve McInally then restored the lead. Aylmer tied the score 5-5 in the third period. Jason Murray scored to give Seaforth the edge. AYLMER 8 • SEAFORTH 4 Some hard work by Shawn Anstett put Seaforth on the scoreboard early. Aylmer answered with a pair. Brent Hulley scored with one second left in the period to tie the game. In the second period, however, Aylmer scored four goals to a lone Seaforth goal by captain Jeff Flanagan. Jason Henderson scored another in the third period but Aylmer got two of their own and the game ended 8-4 in Aylmer's favour. ON TAP Results of last night's home game (Tuesday) were unavailable at press time. Game seven is Wednesday night if necessary.
