They returned from their jour- ney with $1,717 for the Cana- dian Cancer Society and its local fundraising drive. The young people were stu- dents in Jayne Walsh's business applications course. "The community gives so much to the school it's good for the school to help out," said Walsh, a business studies teacher at the school. She said the stu- dents enjoy meeting the people of the community. For the students the learning experience .included reminders about the importance of fighting cancer. Students Lisa Gingerich and Nick Longstaff noted the disease affects many people. "We just want to help the Cancer Society raise money (for research)," said Sheila Litt, one of three students who acted as 'captains' for the door-to-door canvass. The school has taken part in the door-to-door campaign before but often a senior class takes part. The students went to local homes and businesses. The campaign took place throughout the morning.
