Community
Students help cancer fight
BY TIM CUMMING
Expositor Editor
Twenty-stx students of
Seaforth District High School hit
the streets of Seaforth on Thurs-
day morning with daffodils in
their hands.
They returned from their jour-
ney with $1,717 for the Cana-
dian Cancer Society and its local
fundraising drive.
The young people were stu-
dents in Jayne Walsh's business
applications course.
"The community gives so
much to the school it's good for
the school to help out," said
Walsh, a business studies teacher
at the school. She said the stu-
dents enjoy meeting the people
of the community.
For the students the learning
experience .included reminders
about the importance of fighting
cancer. Students Lisa Gingerich
and Nick Longstaff noted the
disease affects many people.
"We just want to help the
Cancer Society raise money (for
research)," said Sheila Litt, one
of three students who acted as
'captains' for the door-to-door
canvass.
The school has taken part in
the door-to-door campaign
before but often a senior class
takes part. The students went to
local homes and businesses. The
campaign took place throughout
the morning.

When will spring begin..or will it?
SPRING OR WINTER?? - What a difference a day makes. The
photo on the left was taken on Saturday aftemoon when it looked
and felt like winter was finally gone. Some snowdrops were

up Sunday morning to a fresh blanket of snow and we were right
back where we started from. When is summer going to get here?!
Dublin people have visitors
Easter is always a special time for
get-togethers. Katie Murray was
happy to have her sister (Mary
Dantzer, London), spend Easter
with her.
Joe Eckert had the following
visitors: Richard, Ken and Ann
Hurley, Stratford; Joe and Cathy
Eckert, Seaforth, and Reiny and
Shirley Van Loon, Holland
Landing.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to Mary and Joe Ryan, on
the death of Mary's father (Lloyd
Cameron) whose funeral was held
last week. Sympathy is also
extended to Lloyd's wife (Rhea)
and to all the family and relatives.
A very Happy Birthday to Eileen
MacRae, who celebrates this week!
