• • • • St. Patrick's church holds World Day of Prayer event The World Day of Prayer was held on Friday, March 4 at St. Patrick's Church. The theme was "Go, See and Act." Ladies were welcomed by C.W.L. President (Willhemenia Poppe). Those taking part in the ceremony were: Leader - Mary Van Bakel; and readers - Mamie Delaney, Willhemenia Poppe, and Dorothy Dillon. Congratulations to Dwain and Nancy Smith (Schoonderwoerd) on the birth of a darling little daughter (Brittany Ann) born on Sun. Feb. 20 at St. Mary's Memorial Hospital. Proud great-grandparents are Coram and Ralph Smith, St. Marys. Proud grandparents are Barry Smith, St. Marys and Cecilia and John Schoonderwoerd, Mitchell. All your friends and readers wish you Happy Citizen's Club meets The Seaforth Happy Citizen's Club held their regular' monthly meeting at the Legion on Thursday, March 3. The meeting opened with O'Canada, Mildred Traviss accom- panying on the piano. Pauline Bennett gave two humorous read- ings entitled "The Train of Life" and "On the Lighter Side" which brought fourth many chuckles. Maplewood Manor and The Seaforth Manor residents are invited to join the club at its next meeting for an afternoon of euchre and fellowship. At this time I wish on behalf of our club to apologize to Rev. Bruce Cook for the embarrass- ing error that I made in our last month's write up. Rev. Cook was the guest speaker telling about Newfoundland ways of life and not Jim Lingerfelt. I am very sorry for this error. Euchre followed the meeting with prizes being won as follows: Ladies' High - Gertie Driscoll; Lone Hands - Mary Riley; Low - Jean Pinder, Men's high - Anonna Crozier and Mary McCall (playing as men); Lone hands - Marjorie Rock (playing as a man) and men's low Mary Dalrymple (also playing as a man).
