DEAL ME IN - Gwen Dalton and Scarlet Swan were among the
hundreds of local people who supported a good cause by taking
part in Friday night's Casino Night and charity auction. The event
raised more than $3,000 for the Seaforth Co-operative Children's
Centre.
Elections coming soon
There is not a lot of news around
Seaforth Legion 156 Branch this
week.
Nominations and elections will be
taking place soon. Anyone who
maybe interested in running for an
offce or willing to take on a com-
mittee chairmanship, please contact
Gordon De Jong.
Next Saturday March 5, the Zone
C1 Public Speaking Contest will be
held at Branch 156. The Juniors
speak in the morning and the sen-
iors in the afternoon.
On Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m.
The Zone Cl Convention will be
held at the Blyth Legion. Anyone
wishing to go should contact Presi-

50th Anniversary
On March 1 Jean and Herb
Brown celebrated their 50th wed-
ding anniversary.
Jean's sister and her husband
arrived from Scotland (where Jean
and Herb were married). All your

A reminder of the Euchre/Rikken
card party to be held in St.
Patrick's rectory on March 3 and
March 17 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
John, Lou and Jim Maloney were
in Kitchener to wish their brother
Frank, a Happy 60th Birthday on
Feb. 25. There were a few games
of euchre played. Frank and team

peacefully at Hillside Nursing
Home, at 100 years of age. Carl
(originally from Fullarton Town-
ship) recently celebrated his 100th
birthday. We will all miss Carl!

Residents of Seaforth Manor
Nursing Home enjoyed a wonderful
slide show presentation by Dr.
Woldnick of his recent holiday to
New Zealand. Residents were also
pleased to have wonderful pianists
Bill Gibson, Carol Carter and
Marion Rose entertain with beauti-
ful piano concerts. The Seaforth
Nursery School arrived to delight
everyone with their "trip to the
Zoo" theme and their stuffed ani-
mals. Seaforth Manor welcomed
Alan Rush who conducted worship
service. Thanks to Minna Scott and
Jean Durst for assisting with music.
Staff education inservice was held
Feb. 21. Guest speakers were
Pauline Daugherty and Linda Byles
from the Canadian Cancer Society
who presented a very informative
presentation on Breast Health
Batter up at
4-H baking
by Rachel Broome
The McKillop #1 4-H baking club
made muffins at its second meeting
on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Joan
Stewart's home.
The club's roll call was 'What is
your favourite kind of muffin'. Jane
Bennett gave a presentation on how
to eat smartly. The club then
divided in half. The group in the
kitchen made blueberry muffins
while the other group read chapter
2 in the Batter Up! book. Nancy
Stewart later gave a presentation on
scholarship awards and opportun-
ities available through 4-H. The
next meeting is March 2, 7 p.m. at
Donna Bennetts home.
