As with any contract, it
may be amended at any time.
Most contracts are taken
very seriously by the courts.
"The main reason for set -
ting it aside usually is that one of
the parties didn't really know what
he or she was signing. And where
you get around that is you make
sure each party to the contract has
independent legal advice," Pickell
says.
The contract can be disre-
garded by the courts if one of the
partners failed to disclose signifi-
cant assets or debts, or if one of the
parties did not understand the nature
or consequences of it. The contract
will also be useless if one party did
not have the capacity to enter into it

The dress modelled above by Kirsten Baldwin was made for
Blaine Allen, when she married Donald White on Sept. 8, 1956,
in Laurence Park Community Church, Toronto. The bride's
custom-made frost white taffeta gown is styled with a long-
sleeved bodice and low neckline outlined in pearls, crystal beads
and sequins, with a graceful, softly pleated skirt extending into a
short train. A headdress of pearls, beads and sequins holds her
fingertip veil. She carried a prayer book and white bridal flowers.
Her three bridesmaids wore waltz -length gowns in a deep
turquoise shade. The groom was attended by his twin brother.
