auctioneer at a Box Lunch Social on Valentine's Day at Seaforth Public School. Half of the money raised
by Bill Mil!son's grade eight class goes to Expositor editor, Tim Cumming's Mini -Marathon for the
hospital. The other half of the proceeds go toward the grade eight graduation.
Pesticide safety
course _,planned
For producers who need to obtain
their Grower Pesticide Safety Certi-
ficate, but have difficulty finding
time to take one of the day courses
being offered, the Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food office in
Clinton is offering an evening
course.
The course will be on two even-
ings: Tuesday, • March 22 and
Wednesday, March 23 - 6:30 p.m.
to 9:30 p.m. Seminar Room A,
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and
Food, Clinton
The cost for the course is $40.
Participants may obtain a course
manual when they register, prior to
the course.

Kids Crafts on Saturday mornings
The Seaforth Recreation Depart-
ment will be hosting Kids Crafts on
some Saturday mornings in Febru-
ary and March. This Craft Class
will be instructed by Susan Half-
penny from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
at the Seaforth and District Com-
munity Centres, for children ages 8
to 12 years old. The next Saturday
craft will be held February 26. On
this morning t4' children will be
crafting Seagrass Baskets. Come
out and see how much fun it will
be. Registration fee is $15.00 per
person and we ask that everyone
pre -register. Pre -Registration is a
must so we know how much sup-
pliesNto get. Please call the Recre-

Surprise 60th
birthday party
James Nolan of St. Thomas,
Louis Nolan of RR 4 Seaforth and
Joe and Helen Nolan of St.
Columban attended a surprise 60th
birthday party for Ann (Nolan)
Stockie in Kitchener on Sunday,
February 13.
Helen Nolan also attended a
birthday party for her brother, Joe
Murray's 65th birthday on Saturday
evening in Kitchener.
About 300 ladies and Spiritual
Directors of the Huron -Perth Dean-
ery Catholic Women's League
attended the sixth annual Fun Night
held at the Memorial Hall in Blyth
on Wednesday, Febrifary 9. This
event was hosted l the Blyth
Catholic Women's League. The
event started with a pot -luck supper
followed by entertainment of sing-
ing, dancing, skit.4 and readings by
several of the C.W.L. leagues from
the .Huron -Perth Deanery. There
were also several door prizes drawn
for throughout the evening.
The St. Columban C.W.L. would
like to thank Ann (Ken) Murray
and Tom Burke for their time in
setting up the props and to Tom for
his accompaniment on the guitar for
the skit "Seven Old Ladies" making
a stop at "The necessity house"
during their busy day. Fifteen ladies
attended from St. Columban.
Recreation Preview

The Seaforth Recreation Depart-
ment will also be sponsoring an
Introduction to TOLE & DECOR-
ATIVE PAINTING. This course
will cover surface preparation,
colour theory, use of 3 different
brushes, and decorative finishes.
Students will paint posies on a
scissors caddy, folk art tulips on a
letter holder, Victoria flowers on a
wall shelf and earrings. The classes
will be held on Thursday evenings
from 7 to 10 pm at the Seaforth
District High School, beginning
February 24 and lasting 6 eeks.
Registration fee will be $35.00 per
person plus $110.00 for all supplies
and taxes. The class must have 8
people to begin and a maximum of
10. Please pre -register by calling
the Recreation Office at 527-0882,
supplies must be purchases. Dead-

Senior Shuffleboard continues
every Wednesday afternoon from
1:30 to 4:00 pm. All seniors are
welcome to enjoy an afternoon of
fun and fellowship. You may also
come out and enjoy a game of
Carpet Bowling, Cards or Table
Tennis. Last week's shuffleboard

Tree of Lights successful again
President Margaret M. Mennell
was in the chair. Roll call and
minutes were read by Marjorie
Rock once approved.
The Tree of Lights and the
Christmas Bazaar was again a suc-
cess with net proceeds of
$4,076.75. Annual financial reports
were given which showed a very
profitable year. The main purchase
for the hospital were new lights for
the operating room.Recessed ceiling
lights and a display cabinet for the
hospital entrance was purchased by
the Memorial Fund.
Margaret M. Mennell advised
members of the Ontario Hospi
Auxiliary Regional 2 Spring Con-
ference will be held at Fergus, Ont.
on April 25, 1994.
Future fund raising was discussed
with Bakeless Bake Sale, Sale of
Pizzas, Sale of Easter eggs in
March, and Penny Sale May .2 to
13.
