Award to Huron Women's Shelter
Hay and HuronTel are
proud winners in two cate-
gories for the Tuned -In
Awards. The awards are
sponsored. by the Canadian
Cable Systems Alliance.
The Tuned -in Awards are
offered by the CCSA (Cana-
dian Cable Systems Alliance)
CCSA represents more than
115 independent and highly
resourceful companies that
provide broadband, televi-
sion and telephone services
to over 350,000 customers
across Canada.
Our membership includes
many small, family-owned
companies, companies
operated by Indigenous Peo-
ples in Canada and more
than 20 not-for-profit com-
munity cooperatives.
Hay and HuronTel operate
the two local telecommuni-
cations companies that
cover the areas from Grand
Bend and Exeter to the Rip-
ley, Kincardine area. They
work together on many
endeavours including their
Community Channel, Chan-
nel One.
The categories were Best
On -Camera Community
Channel Personality and
Best Community Channel
Programming.
Best Community Chan-
nel Programming was
awarded for the Channel
One Feature show "Inspir-
ing Women of Huron
County; which is a behind
the scene look at the mak-
ing of the pin-up calendar,
produced by Faux Pop
Media, in Goderich. •
Best On -Camera Commu-
nity Channel Personality for
Shaunessy Sinnett who hosts
the weekly local news pro-
gram, One News, on Chan-
nel One operated by Hay
and HuronTel.
After receiving a competi-
tive field of nominations in
March, submissions were
sent to a judging panel for
evaluation.
From there, judges ranked
the entries and a shortlist
was determined. Then, it was
placed in the hands of Cana-
dians to determine the win-
ners by electronic and paper
voting.
"Seeing Hay Communica-
tions and IluronTel being
recognized and supported
by the communities they
serve; that's what this cam-
paign is all about," said Jay
Thomson, CEO of CCSA.
"We're so pleased with the
number of people who
brought out the vote this
year. More than 15,000 votes
were received! 'I his is a direct
reflection of the incredible
amount of enthusiasm dis-
played by each of our short-
listed members during the
voting stage of the
campaign."
Donna Jean Forster -Gill,
Executive Director, accepted
the donation of $3, 000 on
behalf of Huron Women's
Shelter and thanked the
thousands of voters that
made this possible.
