Temperance
Picnic at the
Huron County
Museum
All are invited to have some
good, clean fun at the Huron
County Museum's Temperance
Picnic and Ice Cream Social on
July 8 at the Huron County
Museum, located at 110 North
Street, Goderich. The even will
run from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Admission to the Temper-
ance Picnic is by purchase of a
$10 "Tampon Tote" (Cash Only
Please) that will be donated to
the Huron Women's Shelter Sec-
ond Stage Housing and Coun-
selling Services.
The totes, which have a
$19.68 retail value, have been
generously provided by
Michael's Pharmasave of Bay-
field and Goderich. Accompa-
nying kids are FREE.
The Temperance Picnic will
bring the Museum's current
prohibition exhibit, Huron
County: The Dry Years, to life
with costumed characters, lawn
games, take home crafts, scav-
enger hunt, strawberries and ice
cream, prizes and much more.

Memories needed
Central Huron
Heritage Displays
During the Central Huron 150
celebrations on July 7-9, there will
be heritage displays of the three
founding municipalities (Goderich
Township, Hullett Township and
Clinton).
The items will be displayed in the
Banquet room of the REACH Cen-
tre and security will be on hand.
The displays will be open on Friday
July 7 from 3-8 pm and on Saturday
July 8 from 10 am to 5 pm.
Do you have memories or items
of interest to share? Remember,
your children and grandchildren
may have never seen a milking
machine, a cream separator or a
wall telephone.
Have they ever used an iron that
needs to be heated on a stove? And
what about the old school text-
books? Now they use Google. If you
have local history books, we'd love
to display them. Clothes from the
1800s? Give us a call..
Do you remember the beautiful
signature quilt auctioned off during
the Goderich Township 150th cel-
ebration in 1985? Who bid the
highest and won the quilt? Come
and see the interesting story that
goes with the current ownership of

We plan to include a brief
description of each item and its
heritage connection, so please pro-
vide such details with the item.
Items should be delivered to your
contact person before July 7 or to
the REACH Centre that morning
before noon.
Each item will be documented,
with a receipt provided. Please pick
up your items after 5 pm on Satur-
day July 8.
