On July 30, Windmill Lake
will be host to their "Tri"
event, which will be a ver-
sion of a mini -triathlon,
removing the traditional
sports and including paddle
boarding, trail running and
yoga instead.
"The fact that it's Canada's
150th, a lot of people will be
looking to get out and do
things this summer, and on
July 30 we are doing an event
called 'Tri,' says Pate.
"That afternoon we are also
aiming to do the world's larg-
est SUP Yoga session. We have
partnered with Yoga Den in
Goderich and 360 Boards and
Bikes for the event:'
This summer, Windmill
Lake will also offer three
weeks of camp, looking to
build off this years' success
and expand to eight weeks of
summer camp next year.
The summer camps will
have a focus of sport and art,
where paddle_ boarding and
other activities will take part in
the mornings and participants
will then create art based on
the morning activities.
Windmill Lake will also
play host to an annual wake
boarding competition called
"Rule the Pool'; and this year
the competition will be
expanded into a three-day
mini -festival for the August
long weekend.
The "Rule the Pool" com-
petition attracts professional
wake boarders and more
advanced riders, with a top
prize of $2, 000 USD.
The three-day mini -festi-
val titled "Wind and Waves"
will be an outdoor, eco -festi-
val that will include yoga,
paddle boarding, nature
walks, an opportunity to
explore the full-scale Dutch
Windmill on the property, a
various local vendors market
and live music on the Sun-
day evening.
"We want to show people
what is right in their back-
yards. It will be a really
unique, affordable, and fun
three-day mini eco -festival,"
Pate explains.
"We are trying to get peo-
ple outside, and it's all about
understanding our impacts
on the environment."
