Over the weekend, the
Lions Club hosted the offi-
cial opening of Camp Klah-
anie, which is located just
outside of Goderich on
Blacks Point Road.
The afternoon barbecue
included ribbon cuttings of
each of the new bunkies on
site, as well as live entertain-
ment, a magic show, a bouncy
castle and a silent auction.
For each new facility that
was official opened, different
members of Girl Guides of
Canada had the honours to
cut the ribbons.
Long time Girl Guide
leader and partner with the
Lions Club Committee that
oversees Camp Klahanie,
Melody Falkner-Pounder
spoke out at the official
opening event.
"Exactly three years, ten
months and seventeen days
ago, we celebrated the pur-
chase of Camp Klahanie by
the Goderich Lions Club. It
was an incredible opportu-
nity to transform the prop-
erty into something truly
wonderful for the whole
community and beyond, to
enjoy, said Melody.
"We are so grateful to the
community for their support
to get us to this day. It is more
than just a camp. It continues
to be an opportunity for
thanks to those thoughtful
concerned citizens and that
this will be here not only for
children and youth, but all

welcome everyone here to the
official opening of the camp.
This was more or less a labour
of love for the Lions Club and
something that we are
extremely proud of," said Gary.
"To the hard work of all the
members of the Lions Club
that helped and volunteered
their time to get this place. It
is a fantastic facility."
