Huron County 4-H
The second meeting of the
4-11 IPM County Plowers
was held on May 10, 2017 at
the O.M.A.F.R.A Office in
Clinton at 7pm.
After all of the members
arrived, they were formed into
five groups, then each mem-
ber said something that the
group all had in common,
such as "we all like the IPM"
and "we all love animals':
After the group went
around saying all that they
had in common, a picture
was taken for The Citizen for
their IPM series.
President Brooklyn Hen-
driks opened the meeting
with the 4-H pledge then did
roll call: "what are you look-
ing forward in this club?':
Most members answered
that they are excited to help
out in the 4-H tent at the
2017 IPM.
Then the club moved on to
business, where Jessalyn
Hendriks gave the press
report, followed by the treas-
urer's report made by Austin
Bieman.
So far the 4-H Club has
sold 51 IPM bows to go
towards purchasing club
t -shirts to wear at the IPM.
Club leader, Jolande Oud-
shoorn applied for the 4-H
Connecting Canadians Fund
sponsored by Canada 150,
The Government of Canada,
TransCanada, and McDon-
ald's Canada.
The funding would go
towards creating and running
the events in the tent such as
buying paint to make signs or
straw for animal displays.
Another leader, Reg Vinni-
combe, applied for the Jour-
ney2050 sponsored by
Agrium to help out with the
4-H tent costs at the 2017
i
MP meeting
Club members presented their ideas for. the 4-H IPM tent, while Leader Jolande Oudshoorn wrote them all down on the board.
IPM and luckily the club
received them both.
After business was taken
care of, the club then got into
groups and played a match-
ing game, learning about
planning an event.
Then the club brain-
stormed of what could be in
their 4-H tent such as, a
photo booth, history facts
about Huron County 4-H, a
livestock display, and a seed
activity and each group pre-
sented their ideas.
As a final activity, the club
members went outside to
play Rock Paper Scissors
Football, where everyone
had a blast.
The leaders summarized
all the activities that the 4-H
Club would have in the tent.
The next meeting will be
held on June 14, 2017 at the
O.M.A.F.R.A Office in Clin-
ton at7pm.

Last week was Discovery
Week, which meant that 168
first year medical students
from Western University's
Schulich School of Medicine
and Dentistry spread out to
more than 30 communities in
South-westem Ontario.
The students received
hands-on learning experiences
in rural and regional commu-
nities hospitals and clinics.
Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital was host to
four students: Shelby Wallace
from North Bay, Cassie Poole
from Wallaceburg, Michelle
Cornfield from Owen Sound
and Tiago Ribeiro from
Oakville.
The first year medical stu-
dents shadowed physicians
and visited patients to gain a
better understanding of how
patient care is delivered,
during their weeklong stay at
AMGH.
Discovery Week offers a
unique learning opportunity
by providing hands on learn-
ing experiences and an
understanding of the diverse
experiences which impact
health and wellness.
