Providing a donation to the
Hospital Foundation, the
Legion of Goderich, repre-
sented by President Dennis
Schmidt, Poppy Fund Chair-
man Ben Prouse and Bingo
Chair Person Linda Lumley
presented a cheque of S6, 500.
Legion President Dennis
Schmidt, alongside Ben
Prouse and Linda Lumley met
at Alexandra Marine and Gen-
eral Hospital last week to pre-
sent Hospital Foundation
Coordinator Shannon LaHay
with the cheque.
"This is our third time
donating to the Hospital,"
explained Prouse. "We have a
Hospital here, and we should
support it properly or we
could lose it. So 1 think the
more stuff we have in this
Hospital, the better for us. We
have seniors and veterans and
that is what the Poppy fund is
for - our Vets. They come here
and need the care.
The Poppy Fund donated
S3, 250 and money raised
from Bingo afternoons also
donated $3, 250 to the Hospi-
tal Foundation for the pur-
chase of a vital signs monitor
with Oximetry.
"It's a good cause and I think
all the Bingo people would
agree," 'said Bingo Chair Person
Linda Lumley. "We need to
keep things up to date:'
A vital sign monitor can pro-
vide accurate vital sign meas-
urements quickly and with
fewer errors, allowing physi-
cians and nurses to have those
results immediately. The Oxi-
metry aspect will monitor the
amount of oxygen carried
throughout the body.
"It is important for the Legion
to support the AMGH Founda-
tion as the mandate of the
Legion is to support its veterans
and seniors in the community.
We are the Legion understand
the need of the I Iospital to have
state of the art equipment to
ensure everyone receives the
best possible care available,"
explained Legion President
Dennis Schmidt
"Knowing that the Minis-
try of I-Iealth does not pro-
vide funds for equipment, it
is so important for organiza-
tions and individuals to sup-
port the Hospital through
donations to the AMGH
Foundation."
