2017 is a significant year
for Canada, and the Central
Huron Canada 150 commit-
tee wants to acknowledge
that with a big celebration.
The event will be held in
conjunction with PuckinFest
on July 6-9. Combined, the
weekend will offer numer-
ous activities for every inter-
est and age group.
A group of volunteers has
been hard at work for
months planning the event.
The committee is a partner-
ship of many different com-
munity groups including the
Kinsmen, Kinettes, Raceway,
REACH, municipality, fire-
men, Lions Club, legion,
Optimists and ABATE. They
are always looking for addi-
tional partners.
A schedule was handed
out at the group's meeting in
April.
On Friday night, regular
PluckinFest events will
include the Friday night
co-ed slow pitch tourna-
ment, beer tent, wings in the
park, teddy bear parade and
street dance.
On Saturday, regular
events include the legion
breakfast, free swim, parade
and kids' road hockey
tournament.
Sunday includes bouncy
castle entertainment for
kids, the popular fireman's
breakfast, Kin Pace race,
elimination draw and
chicken barbeque.
With Canada's 150th come
lots of new events. Some of
those include a fireworks
display following the grand
opening Friday evening; a
show and shine car show put
on by ABATE; a variety of
games and tournaments
(including but not limited to
holey board and euchre); a
pizza night followed by a free
movie night, courtesy of the
raceway; and an ecumenical
church service.
The municipality and
YMCA are also holding a
5km race that weekend, the

Another year, another
fundraising success!
A heartfelt thanks to all that came to support
the 7th Annual Home & Cottage Show. Funds
raised will benefit the All Points Charitable
Fund, helping local families in need.
We want to give a big thanks to the vendors
who spent the weekend with us - we had some
fantastic new ones and the ongoing support of
many who've been with us for years now. Thank
you all in believing in our show and supporting
it with your business.
BBQ Fundraiser Nets $1250 for
the McDonald Family of Goderich!
The support for the BBQ at the show was
amazing - helping us raise $1250 for the
McDonald Family SUPER BATHROOM RENO
Campaign. Thanks to all who came out for
a burger or hotdog to show their support or
simply made a donation - the generosity of
our community is incredible!

One of the two Canadian flags flying by the Clinton cenotaph.
These will feature the history
of the three townships that
formed Central Huron in
2000 - Clinton, Hullett and
Goderich townships. They
also want to have a Dutch
display.
If you have items, photos
or books that you feel would
add to such a display, con-
tact a committee member.
While they have a volun-
teer to spearhead the Goder-
ich township display (Doug
Yeo, 482-9296), they are still
looking for volunteers for the
three others.
Another new event is a
garden/window display/out-
door exhibit competition.
The decorations must be
distinctly. Canadian and will
be judged on creativity and
its connection to the Cana-
dian theme.
The committee hopes that
farms, homes and busi-
nesses throughout the
municipality will take this
challenge to heart and par-
ticipate. There will be three
prizes awarded of $150 each.
