Hunter's long journey with infantile leukemia is over but his legacy can be found in the many hearts that
he touched and especially by those who journeyed with him. The Goderich Legion and many of the
friends and supporters of the Costello family would like to pay it forward and we will do so by holding a
community fundraiser for other families who are embarking on their own journeys.

The wild animals were a concern, the
heat and terrain were a concern, but
the mine itself was a concern for safety
each time he entered it.
Fergusons' book is a descriptive re-
telling of the experiences in those mining
and prospect camps, in the bush, dealing
with co-workers, natives and animals.
"Today it is not the same as when I
was there. They have had the wars of
independence. I used to work through
the bushes with a rifle, and I would see
elephants, buffalo, snakes, hippos,
crocodiles and leopards almost on a
daily basis," said Ferguson. "People will
get an idea of what that country was
like back then, when the animals could
wander around relatively un -afraid."
A book that is educational, informa-
tive, sometimes humourous and some-
what historical, it takes its readers to a
time and place that doesn't exist the
way it once did.
Through his writing, Ferguson takes
his readers to a world he once lived in
that involved other cultures, other lan-
guages, adapting to new terrain and situ-
ations, a place of survival and adventure.
"Back in those days, adventure was
just around the comer. Those times and
those scenarios are no longer around,
said Ferguson. "For people who have
never been there, they can learn some-
thing about that area of the world - how
it transformed from British rule to own
rule. It's nostalgic of a time and place
that we will never see again."
The memoir is vividly descriptive of
the people, scenarios and geographical
areas that Ferguson worked and lived
in during his work for De Beers mining
prospect company; the book brings
events and memories to life.
There are plans for the book to
become available through Amazon
and Ferguson is hoping to sell his book
within local bookstores in Goderich.
Ferguson originally printed 50 copies of
his self -published book, and can be pur-
chased for $25 a copy, by contacting the
author directly at mbferg@mymts.net
