To honour past Regents and an
afternoon to reminisce, the ladies
of the IODE Maple Leaf Chapter of
Goderich gathered for an After-
noon Tea event.
Hosted at past Regent and active
member Nancy Hughes' home, 11
past regents enjoyed an afternoon
of memories, recognition, tea and
tasty treats.
Of the 11 past -regents in attend-
ance at the Afternoon Tea event,
eight remain active in the Chapter.
"I think it's good for us to remi-
nisce on past successes and things
that happened during each of their
time serving as Regent," said Hughes.
According to Hughes and several
other members of the IODE, the
community service group used to
host an Afternoon Tea every June,
and the Goderich Chapter is now
re -introducing this tradition.
The IODE Maple Leaf Chapter in
Goderich currently has 13 active
members who are all past Regents.
According to Hughes, the Chap-
ter has a certain protocol to follow
when in a meeting, fundraising or
hosting events. The past Regents,
who are active, can remind the cur-
rent members of past successes, or
they can attend an Afternoon Tea
where they, like others who have
gone before them, are honoured
for their success and work for the
community.
"I think events, like this, really
strengthens the Chapter," said
Hughes.
