"The only thing con-
stant in today's world is
change, and change is
happening rapidly. How
we approach, adapt and
accept change will not
only define who we are
today, but also define who
we are in the future,"
explained Mayor Morri-
son. "Some change we do
have control over, and
how we approach what-
ever change comes our
way, I believe, defines us."
The Luncheon, which
was also termed "New
Goderich" by Mayor Morri-
son, reflects the theme of
change. Some of these
changes will come in the
form of a $16 million,
three -acre expansion in the
waterfront plan, and the
development of the long
awaited new sports park.
Goderich is, although
maintaining successful
aspects of the economy, it is
also constantly developing
and improving.
"We recognize the signifi-
cant importance of industry
with our harbour, and
equally with the importance
of our waterfront when it
comes to tourism" explained
Mayor Morrison.
The Mayor also high-
lighted upcoming events in
and near Goderich, such as
the Town Transformation
event in October and the
2017 International Plowing
Match in September.
These events will bring
tourists to the Town of
Goderich and to Huron
County, and have a positive
impact on the economic
development and growth of
the community.
"Goderich is very excited
because it gives us the
opportunity to showcase
what we have to offer. It's
time to show how proud we
are here in Huron County,"
said Mayor Morrison.
"What's good for Huron
County is good for Goderich
and what is good for Goder-
ich is good for Huron
County"
As the Luncheon served as
a chance for members in the
community to network and
build relationships with
other notable people from
Goderich or Huron County,
it was apparent that the
atmosphere bubbled with
pride and appreciation of
what the Town of Goderich
offers to residents and
tourists.
In closing remarks, the
Mayor explained how
important events such as
the Luncheon are to com-
munities, in order to allow
room for partnerships to
flourish and improving ser-
vices and economic
development.
Despite the Luncheon title
of "Goderich Mayor's Lunch,
Mayor Morrison was inform-
ative, optimistic and most of
all thankful to those in the
community who help make
Goderich the wonderful
town that it is.
"I want to tell you how
proud I am to be your Mayor.
It's an honour to serve in this
position," explained Mayor
Morrison. "I can think of no
better way to serve the com-
munity and I couldn't do it
without the support of our
Council and our team at the
Town, and those involved in
the town. I want to thank you
all"
