'100 Women Who Care; invite women of Huron County to an information session and first meeting, on Saturday May 6, from 10:30 until 11:30am. The meeting will be held at 110 North Street; Goder- ich, in the Huron County Museum. The groups mission and hope is to assist local groups as they effect positive change, meeting real needs in Huron County. '100 Women Who. Care' will gather four times a year, for a one-hour meeting. In these meetings, each mem- ber will write a $100 cheque. to a local charity or non- profit organization that the group votes on and selects. The combined donation of all members will make a real impact, without time- consuming fundraising events and planning. '100 Women Who Care; warmly invite members of the community to join if they feel stretched for time, yet vivant to help those in need. It is a commitment of giv- ing $100 and one hour, four times a year,•so those who wish to contribute to their community in such a way are welcome to jhin. 100 percent of the groups_ donations will go directly to a local charity or non-profit in the community, which is to be selected at each meeting. Estate agents will #fie trekking 100km in Iceland in support of the Huron Women's Shel- ter and the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. Together they are raising funds to support women and children in Huron County who have experienced all types of abuse. In 2015, Kathy and her daughter, Loreena Homan, trekked in Peru and were able to raise $10,000 to sup- port the Iluron Women's Shelter through the Royal Lepage Shelter Foundation. All money raised will go to the cause, with 80%going to the Huron Women's Shelter and 20% to education pro- grams teaching children about healthy relationships. For 7 days with friends and colleagues from Royal LePage offices across Can- ada, we will be trekking 100km in challenging ter- rain, sleeping in tents, going without cell service and experiencing just 3 hours of darkness in a day. Layne and Kathy are busy raising funds and preparing for the physical and mental challenges they will face in Iceland. To be eligible to participate in this trek, Layne and Kathy must raise a mini- mum of $5,000 each. There is great support for the work of the Huron Wom- en's Shelter across Iluron County so Layne and Kathy are confident that their goal can be met. It is likely, you know someone who has been affected by violence or abuse, either in adulthood or as a child. 67 percent of Canadians say they personally know someone who has experi- enced 'abuse and one in three teenagers have reported dating.violence.
