Banding Together Huron -Perth Ar Catholic Hosts the 2017 Instrumental Music Concert The Huron -Perth Catholic District School Board was excited to host the 2017 Instrumental Music Concert. The concert was hosted at St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School in Clinton, on Thursday April 6. The purpose of this festival was to celebrate and share the achievements of the music programs in our Catholic schools. The focus of the day was to high- light students' God-given talents in music. Workshops and later in the evening, all schools took part in the Mass Band Rehearsal. The main performance was the Concert Bands and the Mass All - School Band performance. During the two hour Concert Bands and the Mass All -School. Band perfor- mance section of the Banding Together event, St. Mike's CSS from Stratford performed `Denbridge Way' (James Swearingen) and 'The Lion Kind Soundtrack Highlights' (Calvin Custer). Our Lady of Mount Carmel per- formed `Enchantment; arranged by Brian Balmages, 'Trumpet Hero; arranged by Paul Lavender and 'Fan- fare Heroica; arranged by Brian Balmages. A composit do by Mike Hannickel, `Tyrannosaurus Rock' was performed by St. James. Sacred Heart of Wingham com- pleted three performances: 'Ode to Joy; arranged by John Higgins; 'May It Be; arranged by John Moss; 'Jus' Plain Blues; arranged by Michael Sweeney. St. Mary's from Goderich also had three performances: 'When The Saints Go Marching In; music by James M Black, arranged by John Hig- gins; 'Do Re Mi; music by Richard Rogers, arranged by Paul Lavender; `Bandroom Rock, composed by Michael Sweeney. Stratford's St. Ambrose performed `Rasputin' (Boney M), and `Crazy Train' (Rhoads, Osbourne, Daisley). The last concert band before the Mass Band Ensemble, was per- formed by St. Anne's CSS from Clin- ton and included 'Wings' (Vince Gassi) and `Tempest Rising' (David Shaffer). All schools were in the ensemble and also offered three performances: 'Linus and Lucy; conducted by Lillian Regier; 'Abide with Me; conducted by Jeff McIntyre; 'Eye of the Tiger; con- ducted by Josh Geddis.
