is to help match all of these

Upcoming innovative program from the Alzheimer Society of Huron County
The Alzheimer Society of
Huron County and One Care
Home & Community Support
Services are pleased to offer
another session of the Minds
in Motion" program in the
Clinton area.
Minds in Motion" is a com-
munity-based physical activ-
ity and brain stimulation pro-
gram for people with early to
mid -stage signs of Alzheimer's
disease or other dementias
and their care partners.
The weekly program will be
offered for 8 weeks at the Betty
Cardno Centre starting May
9th.
The two-hour weekly ses-
sion, facilitated by the Alzhei-
mer Society of Huron County,
provides a one hour physical
fitness session.
The second hour provides
social and cognitive activities
focused on building brain
health.
Minds in Motion- is being
offered in several communi-
ties across the province and
the benefits from the program
have been notable.
For the person with
dementia, frequent benefits
include improved balance,
flexibility, alertness and
increased confidence. For the
care partners, the program
offers an opportunity to focus
on their own health, rather
than focusing on the needs of
the person with dementia.
Care partners also report
that they benefit from the
mutual support and learning
from other care partners and
from seeing the person they
are caring for enjoying
themselves.
The response from these
programs has been very posi-
tive. Participants have com-
mented that in addition to
improved physical fitness and
fitness skills, they have bene-
fitted from being with others
in a similar situation in a fun
and enthusiastic format.
The Clinton program will
run weekly at the Betty Cardno
Centre on Tuesday afternoons
from 1:30 - 3:30 am. from May
9 through June 27, 2017.
There is a $20 per person
fee and registration is required
with the Alzheimer Society of
Huron County.
Please contact the Alzheimer
Society to register, volunteer or
for more information: 519-482-
