HomeMy WebLinkAboutGoderich Signal Star, 2017-04-05, Page 2222 Signal Star • Wednesday, April 5, 2017 Fourth Annual Family Math Kathleen Smith Goderich Signal Star Students of St. Mary's Catholic School and their families, gathered in the gymnasium for the Fourth Annual Family Math Night last Wednesday evening. St. Mary's Parent Council organized the event, with an aim to engage, encourage and inspire the students, with all the possibilities that math offers. The goal to have students see math in a different way - to have fun with it - and to understand that mathemat- ics is in everything in our day-to-day, from maps, to panoramic photographs, and even patterns on soccer balls. Principal Gaylene Hagarty stated that the school board Huron -Perth Catholic Dis- trict School Board has made it their mandate for the past three years and ongoing, to promote math. "Nights like this help pro- mote a positive attitude towards math. They show and demonstrate that math can be fun and exciting.
