This year's camp welcomed 20 stu- dents between the ages of 9 and 14. Each day participants made their own lunches mut snacks under the guidance of the CFAs. Menu items included chicken pot pie, home- made pizza, energy bites, cinnamon rolls, tea biscuits and two bite brownies, using black beans instead of flour. At the conclusion of camp each participant received a certificate and kitchen tool kit designed to encourage participants to keep cooking. Camp Coordi- nator Lieutenant Laura l lickman says, "This camp enables us to equip youth with a foun- dation in kitchen safety and safe food han- dling. We believe these skills are essential in promoting a healthy lifestyle as these youth grow." Participants only contribute $10 to the cost of the week, making this an accessible program to anyone wishing to attend. The Salvation Army is incredibly grateful for the generous support of the community, which enables them to run such skill -building pro- grams that invest in the future of our youth.
