16 Signal Star • Wednesday, March 22, 2017 Agricultural Co-op actively looking for members Kathleen Smith Goderich Signal Star Four years ago, an agricultural Co-op was developed in Sarnia, Ontario. The goal was to gain members, obtain a total of 55 000 acres to supply approximately 75 000 met- ric tonnes of biomass annually to a refinery facility in order to operate for one year, while eliminating costs and extracting an energy source. Cellulosic Sugar Producers Co - Operative Manager of Business Development, Jay Cunningham explains that the goal is "to solicit acres to get to 55 000 to go forward. We will probably curtail a lot of activity by April or May as everyone gets their fields read for their crops': •CSP Co-operative, a farmer owned and supplied Co-op is striv- ing to gain more members, in order to obtain 55 000 acres to harvest corn and wheat stover in order to provide biomass that will in turn extract the cellulosic sugars to be refined to dextrose (sugar). The Co-op based out of Sarnia is holding two meetings this month - the first on Friday March 24th, from 1:30 - 3pm, held at Hill & Hill Farms Ltd. in Varna, Ontario; the second meeting on Tuesday March 28th, from 10 - 11:30am, held at Advantage Farm Equipment Ltd. in London, Ontario. Iii order for the Co-op to be success- ful, there is a three -pronged partner- ship amongst the farmers (members), the Co-op and the Refinery Plant. The process begins when the members contact the Co-op, give permission to enter the field and begin the harvest. Jane and William ran Pearl Sushi Refinery Plant (planned to be oper- ational by Fall 2018). From eliminating cost and har- vesting biomass in order to extract an energy source, the Co-op offers a more buyable and lucrative pro- ject for everyone involved. William explains West Sushi Asian cuisine: Dynamite Roll --- We gently spread sushi rice that is slightly mixed with our special vinegar sauce on seaweed paper and flip it. We then generously add avocado, cucumber, cooked crabmeat, and deep-fried jumbo shrimp. Finally, we roll it up with seaweed paper and cut it Sauces - Spicy Mayo, House Sauce, Wasabi Mayo, Curry Mayo. Salmon Sushi --- We use fresh Atlantic salmon and cut them into slices. First we make bite -sized pieces of our sushi rice (seasoned with our special vinegar sauce) and put fresh slices of Atlantic salmon on top.
