Local resident turns 106

On Tuesday March 7th, a
local resident at the Mait-
land Manor celebrated her
106th birthday.
Mary MacKay, originally
from Toronto, and her late
husband John Franklin Mac-
Kay
acKay whom she met while
working in the same depart-
ment at the National Bank,
retired after more than 30
professional years and
moved to Goderich.
Mary explained, "It was
the water; the lake and the
beautiful scenery drew us to
Goderich':
The bedside table in Mary's
room at the Manor overflowed
with cards and greetings of love,
accompanied by beautiful
flowers brought by extended
family members who visited
Mary on her birthday.
When asked how it feels to
turn 106, Mary smiled,
laughed and simply stated,
"It feels like 106!"
The only advice Mary
wanted to provide on how to
life a long and happy life was
to "work hard and enjoy your
life; live it as it comes to you".
