EDWARDS, Colleen (Scruton) -
"So brave, so lovely, so strong, and there"
It is with great sadness that we share the news of Colleen's
passing. Colleen slipped away peacefully at Alexander Marine &
General Hospital on Friday, February 17th after a courageous . and
gracious battle with cancer. Colleen was the cherished wife and.
best friend of Alan Edwards, and an incredible mom to Ivy and
Truman. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Don and Karen
Scruton, and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Megan
Scruton. Colleen was a daughter-in-law to Larry and Lynn Edwards,
and a much -loved aunt to Laurissa and Sarah Scruton and Emily
and Cameron Edwards. Colleen always strived to keep her family
close, and she will be missed by her aunts and uncles:. Keith and
Nancy Allen, Gloria and Wayne Jackson, Pat (arid the late George)
Sills, Connie and Larry Mellen, and Elaine Craig. She leaves
behind a close-knit group of cousins and their children. Colleen will
never be forgotten by her loyal group of friends (her "gang"). She
touched the lives of so many with her genuine kindness, openness,
and ability to quickly connect. Because of this, she will be
remembered by too many friends to list. We have lost a truly
amazing woman. At Colleen's request, her body has been donated
to medical science. We are truly thankful for the care she received
from the doctors and nurses at London Health Sciences Centre,
specifically Dr. Welch and Dr. Sugimoto, and we are hopeful that
this final act of kindness from Colleen will help to advance the fight
against ovarian cancer. A celebration of Colleen's life was held on
Sunday, February 26th in Goderich. Donations to. Cottage Dreams
Cancer Recovery Initiative, or a. trust fund set up for Ivy and
Truman would be appreciated by the family. Please contact
FALCONER FUNERAL HOMES, BLUEWATER CHAPEL at

RYAN, Eugene George "Gene" -
At Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich, on Friday February 17, 2017.
Gene Ryan of Goderich in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Ann
Ryan (Leitch). Loving father of Lynne Desand (Rick), Pat Blake
(Bill), Scott Ryan (Cathy), Lee Ryan, and Terry Ryan (Bonnie).
Dear grandfather of Becky, Angela, Kara, Julie, Jessica, Drew and
Kaitlin. Predeceased by brother Worthy, sisters Lillian and
Georgina and infant granddaughter Julia. Gene was born in
Goderich on May 9th, 1929. As a young boy, he spent a lot of time
with his father George at the family business, Ryan's Feeds &
Seeds, calling on local farmers. After losing his brother in the
second world war, Gene joined his Dad in the business. When the
business closed following George's death in 1966, he worked at
Sheaffer Pen for a few years until joining the salt mine on August
23, 1968. Gene operated a variety of equipment prior to his
retirement on April 1, 1994. A kind and gentle man, Gene will be
remembered as an honest and caring person who provided
guidance and inspiration to the whole family. A "jack of all trades"
with many self-taught skills, Gene built his own home in Goderich
following his marriage in 1947, and lived there all of his life. He was
able to lead a long and fulfilling life, and passed along many
admirable traits to his children and grandchildren, for which they will
always be grateful. Outside of family life, Gene enjoyed 5 pin
bowling, horse racing, cards, and the occasional trip to the casino
to play his favorite blackjack. The family would like to thank the staff
of Blue Water Rest Home for the excellent care he received for the
fast 2 1/2 years of his life. Following Gene's wishes, cremation has
taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at the Royal
Canadian Legion, Goderich on Sunday March 12th, 2017 from 2-4
