Huron County Federation of Agriculture meets with local politicians Justine Alkema Postmedia Network The annual MP/MPP/ Local Politician Forum hosted by the Huron County Federation of Agriculture (HCFA) focused on some key agricultural issues on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Clinton legion. The four-hour meeting and lunch gave the opportu- nity for representatives from various commodity groups in Huron County to give short presentations on current issues related to their respective groups. As the name implies, Huron -Bruce MP Ben Lobb, Huron -Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson and other local politicians were pre- sent at the meeting. Groups presenting at the session included the HCFA property/land use commit- tee, Huron County Beef Pro- ducers, Ontario Sheet Mar- keting Agency, HCFA farm finance committee, Huron County Egg Farmers, Grain Farmers of Ontario, Huron County Pork Producers, Huron County Dairy Pro- ducers, the HCFA public relations committee, Lobb and Thompson. Melissa Rathwell, Huron Bruce MP Ben Lobb, Lalit Krishna and Lori Merner (left to right) helped announce the fourth annual Hometown Heroes "Raise a Little Health" Charity Hockey Game. The July 20 fundraising game at the Gocerich-Huron YMCA will feature current NHLers for the Buffalo Sabres, NHL All Star Ryan O'Reilly and Cal O'Reilly, and former NHLer and Stanley Cup winner Boyd Devereaux. Huron YMCA. Health Unit Wants Public Input The Huron County health unit is looking at priorities for public health in Huron County in the next few years and wants the pub- lic's input. The focus of public health is, on the whole, population. Public health works to prevent illness and injury, promote well- being, and protect health.
