NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
PROPOSED ELECTORAL CHANGE
DISSOLVING THE WARD SYSTEM
Monday, March 6th, 2017 5:30 p.m.
Council Chamber, 23 Albert St. Clinton
The Council of the Municipality of Central Huron is currently composed of 8
members of Council. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are elected at large by general
vote. Six Councillors are elected by the Ward system, with 3 each elected from the
East Ward and West Wards.
At the March 6, 2017 meeting, Council will be considering a bylaw that will dissolve
the current ward system and allow all members of Council to be elected at Targe by
General Vote.
Public comment is invited on this proposal and will be reviewed at the March
6th meeting. Please submit your comments in writing (emails accepted) to the
undersigned until noon Wednesday, March 1, 2017. All written submissions will
be included in the public agenda. You are also encouraged to take a moment to
participate in our online poll at the bottom of our homepage www.centralhuron.com
Any electoral changes adopted by Council and approved before December 31st,
2017 will come into effect for the 2018 election.
