letter to the editor
Help with identities
I sere is an update to the com-
munity about the East Ashfield
history book. It is being laid out as
you read this with photos and text,
in preparation for the press.
Despite the news releases, on-line
notices, letters in mail boxes and
direct phone calls over the last five
years, there are still some who
have no idea the book is being
prepared.
We have the usual lovely old
photos of families but it is the
families of today that really make
the book more current; not just a
repeat of past publications. We
'do have some young families
who have emailed their photos to
me and I thank them so much.
And we have others who have
been contacted and have failed
to respond one way or the other
to the requests for information or
photos. We have some farms that
have been in the same family
name for not two or three gener-
ations, but four or five and all we
have is the land registry work and
what we can glean from mar-
riage, birth and death records of
old.
We also have class photos
from Brookside School that are
unnamed. We have 1978-79
Grade 6 and 7; 1979-1980 Grade
7 and 8; 1976-1977 Grade 5;
1969-1970 Grade 7, grade 5 -6,
and Grade 8; and 1971-1972
grade 7. If you were in school
then please call and help us
identify these students. We
could also use a photo from the
last five years if there is a family
willing to send one in. -
This is the editor's last chance to
clean up some huge gaps. If you
have been contacted about infor-
mation for the East Ashfield his-
tory book this is your last chance
to get the information in. Five con-
cessions have already been laid
out but we still have nine more to
go. Deadline is one week from
today and the clock is ticking.

or phone,

or

So looking forward to being able
to hand this book to you at
Christmas.

H
ave a golf bag you can travel
Golf unlike any other
sport in the world is a
voyage. Other sports
rely on fields, rinks, courts
and diamonds to make their
sport great. Golf has sometrof
the most beautiful land-
scapes, scenery and jaw
dropping views. Some
courses have you playing
more target golf where oth-
ers reward the long ball
hitters.
Golf travel has become one
of the largest industries in the
world. Golf travelers take more
trips than almost any other
demographic. For a golfer a
golf trip is an opportunity to
discover new places and try
your skills at all levels of golf
courses. Great times, great
memories with great friends
playing a great game to me it
doesn't get much better than
that.
Bringing Your Clubs vs.
Column
Ashley Gravett
Renting Clubs is a great
debate in my household. My
father never ever wants to
travel without his. Having
travelled to New Zealand and
played 5 rounds of golf all
over the country I was quite
satisfied renting clubs and not
having to haul them. Last
winter when I worked at
Provo Golf Club in the Turks
and Caicos that was always a
hot topic when people called.
My answer was we have fan-
tastic Taylormade clubs that
will do the job. However if
you plan to play more than 3
rounds of golf economically it
is cheaper to bring your own.
If you are going for a trip that
has a day of golf, call the golf
course a head of time and see
what their rental club selec-
tion includes. If you're going
—for a golf trip take your clubs.
A great option is "ship my
sticks." Their website explains
it as: "With Ship Sticks, sched-
uling your shipment is fast
and easy. Simply go to the
website and click Ship Now.
Fill in the required fields,
making sure to specify your
pick-up and delivery locations
and dates, number and size of
bags, and protection plan.
You can have your clubs and
luggage picked up from any-
where, including your home,
office or golf course. You also
have the option of dropping
your clubs and luggage off at a
UPS or FedEx facility. From
there you just follow the steps
and can have your clubs wait-
ing for you at the golf course
when you arrive, no hassle no
dragging it through an airport.
Just simply easy and very
accommodating.
A number of years ago my
father travelled to Scotland and
played golf with a couple gen-
tlemen from Africa and Japan.
Neither of which spoke very
good English but they had a
fantastic day on the links and
shared a great experience.
That's the beauty of golf you
don't have to speak the same
language to get the most out of
the experience you just need to
have your clubs and you can
play the world.
So next time you take a trip
consider these helpful tops and
enjoy your vacation. Just don't
forget to pack golf balls!
