outstanding contributions
Dave Sykes
Since its inception in 2009,
the Dave Mounsey Memo-
rial Fund (DMMF), -has
placed 65 life-saving defibril-
-lators in public spaces in
l luron County and area, and
those machines have been
directly responsible for sav-
ing two lives in the past four
years.
Created to honour the
dedication that PC Dave
Mounsey of the OPP had to
his community and to his
quest to donate life -laving
defibrillators to public
access buildings, the Dave
Mounsev Memorial Fund
has purchased and placed 65
units in public spaces,
mostly in 1-1uron County, in
memory of fallen police, cor-
rections, fire, 14045 and mili-
tary members.
In the next few months,
four more Units will be in
place in Nlounsey's memory,
Fund founder, OPP Consta-
ble Patrick Armstrong
announced at the annual
awards ceremony at the
Goderich Legion Friday.
The annual awards cere-
mony followed the success-
ful 29th heartwarming
Luncheon staged by Com-
munity Living - Central
Huron at the Goderich
Legion Branch 109.
In -2012, PC Armstrong
wanted the Memorial Fund
to further 'give back' to the
community and created the
Order of the Good Samaritan
in appreciation to local vol-
unteers who donated their
time and talents to improve
life in their communities.
On Friday, those special
community volunteers were
recognized with awards pre-
sented in remembrance of
local fallen police, EMS and
military members.
Huron County OPP Con-
stable Jamie Stanley and
Goderich firefighter, Bryan
Hodges were commended
for their community -minded
spirit in creating and run-
ning the Goderich Guns and
Hoses Police/Fire charity
hockey game fund-raising
event each year. The Moun-
sey Fund was selected as a
recipient of funds from the
event and a defibrillator was
donated at the game in
memory of Listowel fire-
fighter Kenneth Rea.
