This year's edition promises to be the best to date having been filled with 16 teams for some time now with players travelling to Canada's Prettiest Town from North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, and, through- out Southwestern Ontario to compete for supremacy in one of the Tiger Dun- lop, Maitland, Huron, and, John Phillips Memorial Divisions. Returning, once again, for an unprecedented 38th appearance, are the Port Stanley Cardiacs. The local favourite, Bushwackers, will see some new faces this year as the Owen Sound Magnum have entered, and, will expe- rience the Bushwacker juggernaut. Tournament chair Dan Ridsdale said, "Having a new team in the prestigious John Phillips Memorial Divisionshouldn't have any effect on lessening the entourage that follow Bushwackers hockey." The Sifto Showdown will be featured again this year courtesy of Compass Min- erals at the beginning of each teams' first prelimi- nary game with the oppor- tunity of winning a team prize. This year the tournament food booth will feature the culinary expertise of Chef Parks, and, the Hamilton Street Cafe. Be sure to check out these selections upstairs in the auditorium. As is the case each year, hockey is only part of the appeal for so many of these returning teams who con- tinue to make the annual trek to our community. The always popular Saturday night Old Timer Commu- nity Dance will see the return of the versatile rock- ers MOE'N THE LAWN per-. forming upstairs in the Memorial auditorium at 9:00 p.m. This age of majority event is still just $10.00 admission with no advance ticket sales. As always, the Deckhands Hockey Club will be provid- ing a courtesy taxi service within town from 12:00 - 2:00 a.m. to help ensure that people have an enjoyable, but, safe evening. The weekend is sure to include some good food, competitive hockey, and comraderie at the Deck - hands blue line club.
