Felicia Tiesma is only 10 years
old, but that doesn't mean she
can't do her part in helping oth-
ers. She demonstrated that
recently by raising $1800 for
Hunter Costello, a toddler from
Goderich whom she has never
met.
Tiesma first heard about
Hunter, who is fighting leuke-
mia, after her great aunt bought
her a stuffed animal from a local
pharmacy that was selling them
as a fundraiser for Hunter and
his.family.
Tiesma's mom, Eunice, said,
"The week after that, she men-
tioned Hunter to me many times
and finally she said, `I want to
raise money for Hunter and his
family."'
She made a goal; she would
raise $1500 or dye her hair blue.
Money came in from family,
friends, coworkers, and friends
of friends from across Ontario.
However part way through fun-
draising, it became evident that
if she wanted to reach her goal,
she would have to try a new
technique. That was when she
decided to sell her grandmoth-
er's homemade Portuguese
bread for donations.
Her and her grandma were
able to make and sell 29 loaves
of bread together, putting her
well over her $1500 goal at
$1800.
She did not have to dye her
hair.
Tiesma was able to meet
Hunter's grandparents';
Hunter himself and his family
have been in Philadelphia for a
special cancer treatment.
Tiesma has been invited to
meet Hunter, but is unsure if
she will take his family up on
that offer; she knows he will be
tired when he's home from his
treatment and will need time
to recover.
"Mrs Pitre, my old teacher in
grades 3 and 4, taught me about
acts of kindness, and so I would
like to thank her," said Tiesma.
"And to everyone who donated,
thank you so much for helping
me reach my goal."

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO REPEAL
HERITAGE DESIGNATION BY-LAW 58 OF 2005
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Goderich intends to repeal designating By-law No 58 of 2005 which designated
"The CPR Station" under the Ontario Heritage'Act R.S.O. 1990, Chapter 0.18. By-
law 58 of 2005 was enacted by the Corporation of the Town of Goderich on June
20, 2005 designating the property familiarly known as "The CPR Station", Harbour
Street, Goderich Ontario, to be of historic and architectural value and interest,
pursuant to Section 29 of The Ontario Heritage Act, 1974, S.O. Chapter 122.
This act requires that a property, rather than a building, be designated. The building
is considered to be a heritage attribute of the designated property. Therefore,
the repeal of Bylaw 58 of 2005 has become necessary due to the moving of the
former CPR building in 2013 to a different property than was originally designated
(originally 1 Beach St., but now 2 Beach St.).
The Goderich Municipal and Marine Heritage Committee recommended and
Goderich Town Council agreed to commence the process to repeal By -Law 58 of
2005 and to designate the current location of the CPR station under a new Bylaw
23 of 2017.
AND TAKE NOTICE THAT any person who objects to this proposed repeal shall,
within thirty days after the date of the publication of this notice of intention, serve
on the Clerk of the Municipality, at the address noted below, a notice of objection
setting out the reasons for the objection and all relevant facts.
If you have any questions, please contact the undersigned.
Dated at Goderich, Ontario this 8th day of February, 2017
