At approximately 12:19 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Hyundai turn off of Huron Road onto Parr Line. Upon closer observation it was noticed the rear licence plate was not functioning. As a result the motor vehicle was stopped. Upon speaking with the male driver police learned the driver had a suspended driver's licence. As a result he was placed under arrest for driving while under suspension. A search incident to arrest was completed and during the search the investigating officer located and seized a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. As a result, a 35 -year-old male from Central Huron has been charged with Possession of a Schedule (Substance — Methamphetamine, Driving While Under Suspension; Improper Number Plate Light and Drive Motor Vehicle in Contravention of Conditions. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March'6, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice — Goderich. DRIVER FACING HALF A DOZEN CHARGES (ASHFIELD-COLBORNE- WAWANOSH, Ont.) — A Dungannon resident will be making a trip to court next month following a traffic stop that resulted in several Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences being laid against him. On Saturday, January 21, 2017 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer received information about a suspended driver. As a result of this information an officer kept observations in the area and shortly after 1:00 p.m. a Huron OPP officer observed the suspect vehicle, a white Jeep Cherokee turn off of Lucknow Line onto Hawkins Road. The suspect vehicle was stopped and upon further investigation the driver was confirmed td be driving while under suspension. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody. Upon arrest the investigating officer searched the vehicle and located cannabis marihuana inside the vehicle. Subsequent investigation revealed the driver was operating his vehicle with unaThorized licence pl tes and no insurance coverage. As a result, a 43 -year-old from Dungannon has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 11 Substance (Cannabis Marihuana), Fail to Comply With Probation Order (2) counts, Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle, Driving While Under Suspension and Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance. He was released from custody with a court date scheduled for February 27, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice — Goderich. FLATBED TRAILER. STOLEN - (CENTRAL HURON, Ont.) — Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are actively investigating the theft of a flatbed trailer stolen from Townsend Tire located on Londesboro Road in Central Huron.. Police believe the theft took place sometime between 5:00 p.m. on January 23, 2017 and 8:00 a.m. on January 24, 2017. The trailer is described as a black, 20' long LoadStar flat bed trailer with Yosemite Sam mud flaps. SNOWMOBILE STOLEN (HOWICK, Ont.) - Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently investigating the theft.of a Ski -Doo snowmobile stolen from a farm property located on McIntosh Line. Sometime between 5:30 p.m. on January 12, 2017 and 7:45 a.m. on January 13, 2017 unknown person(s) attended a property located on McIntosh Line in Howick Township. Once on the property those responsible were able to gain access into a large drive shed. Once inside the shed they located the snowmobile and were able to drive off on the snowmobile through a large bay door. Police believe the suspect(s) travelled south on McIntosh Line before making their escape. The stolen snowmobile is described as a black, 2001 Ski -Doo MXZ valued at approximately $2,500. AILURE TO PROVIDE ROADSIDE SAMPLE (CENTRAL HURON, Ont.) —A 65 -year-old driver from Central Huron will be making a trip to court in March after he failed to provide a suitable roadside sample. At approximately 4:45 p.m. on January 13, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver that was last seen travelling southbound out of Goderich on Bluewater Veteran's Highway. Officers began patrolling for the suspect vehicle, a Ford Ranger pickup and a few minutes later a Huron OPP officer located the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Porter's Hill Line near Cut Line. A traffic stop was initiated and the officer spoke with the male driver. While speaking with the driver the officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver's breath thus a demand for the roadside screening test was given to the driver for the purposes of determining the concentration of alcohol in the driver's body. The driver ultimately failed to provide a suitable sample of his breath for analysis. As a result, a 65 -year-old from Central Huron has been charged with Fail to Provide a Suitable Sample — Approved Screening Device and Having Open Alcohol in the Vehicle. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice — Goderich on March 6, 2017. He was also served with an automatic 90 -day driver's licence suspension.
