The Family received friends at the HERITAGE FUNERAL HOME, Drayton on Saturday December 3, 2011 from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. when Rev.Bill Vanderstett conducted the Funeral Service in' the Funeral Home Chapel Interment Drayton Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Alexandra Marine General Hospital, Goderich would be appreciated by the family. PALMER, Elleen Jeanne (nee Thauvette) - August 28,1929 - November 29, 2011 - It was a peaceful moment, immediately following the Last Rites, when Eileen Palmer gently slipped away. After a brave two year struggle with lung disease, Eileen was joyful to be freed of the physical constraints associated with this disease. Eileen will be sadty missed by her siblings, ;her children and their spouses, and her j seven grandchildren. Considering that ' Eileen was predeceased by her sons, Mark and Steven; her son-in-law Marty Baechler; her brothers and sister (Archie, Leo, Ovita and Ella); and life-long friend Mike Sawka, we are comforted that she has received a warm welcome into Heaven. Loving and deeply caring Mother of Janice McCormick (Jim), Karen Palmer, Tanya Buchanan (Grant), Michael Palmer (Donna) and Sandy Church (Doug). Sadly missed by her grandchildren Morgan, Keegan, and Megan McCormick . (Todd), Remick and Rhys Palmer, Atex and Sydney Church. Wonderful sister to Jerry Thauvette (Doreen), Pauline Hamelin (Frank), Annette Meleskie (Ken), and Joe Thauvette (Evelyn). In addition to her many roles in raising a targe lamity, Eileen also was a Teacher, Bread -winner, Motel Manager; and heli various positions in her years of Municipal service with the Town of Goderich including Councillor, Deputy Reeve, Reeve and finally Mayor for a period of 11 years. She was most proud of two accomplishments achieved during her tenure as Mayor: firstly, the Rotary Cove, Boardwalk and Beach Master Plan and, secondly, the Menesetung Bridge and Hiking Trails: Special thanks to all of Eileen's friends and the amazing staff at The Mountainview Terrace in Georgetown who truty made the past year a special one for Eileen. The staff at the Georgetown Hospital are forever in our prayers for the terrific treatment during Eileen's final 48 hours in their gentle care. A celebration of Eileen's life will take place . at St. Peter's Catholic .Church on North Street in Goderich at theiwised time 1Q,145 anyitn December'....2Qf1, The family will be hosting a lunch at the Knights of Columbus Hall immediately following the church service.
