Stuff A Cruiser Food Drive Huron County OPP Auxiliary Acting Staff Sergeant Wayne McConnell reports the 2011 "Stuff a Cruiser" food drive was a great success. The Huron OPP Auxiliary unit would like to thank all the generous people that donated food, gifts and money. Auxiliary members collected over 4, 000 pounds of food and nearly $500 during these events. Officers collected food at local grocery stores located in Wingham, Exeter and Goderich. The food and money will be distributed to those in need through the Salvation Army, Exeter Community Food Bank and the Goderich Knox Presbyterian Church Christmas Bureau. A concerned citizen observed a red Toyota travelling southbound on Bluewater Highway in an unsafe manner. Officers arrived to find the Toyota off the roadway and in the ditch. Upon speaking to the female driver the officer observed her to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired driving. • As a result of the investigation, a 66 -year-old woman from Grand Bend has been charged with one count of impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada and Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act. This automated bilingual service provides travelers with road information pertaining to construction zones and closures on provincially maintained highways. Winter driving in Huron County can be challenging, be prepared and be safe. Break, enter and theft Huron OPP officers are investigating a break, enter and theft from a business located on Morris Road in Morris-Tumberry. The owner contacted police on December 13 to report a storage shed was entered and some property was stolen. It is believed the suspect(s) entered the insecure shed sometime between the evening hours on December 10 and morning on December 12. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a thermal arc welder and generator unit that weighs approximately 8,000 pounds. The welder/generator is valued at approximately $5,000. Also stolen were a black Mastercraft battery charger valued at $150 and a bag of assorted Mastercraft wrenches valued at $100. Theft from storage shed Huron County OPP is investigating a theft of golf clubs from an insecure detached shed located on East Street in Central Huron. The owner believes the golf clubs were stolen sometime overnight between December 12 and morning on December 13. The brand of the golf clubs is not known; however, they are estimated to be valued at $700. The clubs were inside a black golf bag. A unique skunk head cover was on one of the clubs.
