Chair, Vice Chair elected
to Catholic school board
At Its Inaugural Meeting of the Board
of Trustees on Monday, December 5,
Bernard Murray was acclaimed to the
position of Chairperson of the Huron -
Perth Catholic District School Board.
A retired dairy farmer and former
secondary school teacher, Murray's
experience as a trustee dates back to
1986 with the former Huron -Perth
County Roman Catholic Separate
School Board. This is his seventh term
as Chair of the Board.
Munay stated that he is delighted to
be elected as Chair of the Board for the
upcoming year.
"It is always a pleasure to work with
fellow trustees, chaplain, administration
and the employees to further the devel-
opment of each student that walks
through the doors of our school each
day. Oursystem has progressed well
over the years there is always room for
improvement and everyone works very
hard to make that happen."
Amy Cronin, a new -comer to the
Board in 2011, was acclaimed to the
position of Vice -Chair. Amy farms with
her husband Mike. They reside near
Bluevale and have six children. She is
involved in many organizations includ-
ing her role as Vice -Chair of the Ontario
Pork Producers 1Vlarketing Board.

This week at St. Anne's was filled with
fundraisers welcoming the holiday sea-
son to the school: Our Advent projects
and coat drive will continue until Decem-
ber 19. Eagor the. Eagle travelled to class-
rooms around the school this week to
meet the students and learn more about
which project each classroom chose to
take on, in keeping with the Advent
theme. Many classes have chosen tocol-
lect toys and food for families around
Huron County or winter clothing for fam-
ilies in Northern Ontario.

On Monday, December 5, the girls'
hockey team played in Stratford, and the
curling and swimming teams practiced
in Vanastra. On Wednesday, the senior.
boys' basketball team played at South
Huron and the boys' hockey team had a
game at FE Madill. On Thursday, the-
girls' hockey team had a game in Clinton,
and Ms. Finlayson's class departed to the
Vanastra pool:
On Tuesday, December 6, the front
lobby was filled with beautiful displays
created by Semester One Co-op students,
informing peers on what they do on a
day-to-day basis, and to encourage other
students to choose co-op as an option in
their upper years of high school to gain
workplace knowledge and experience.
Also on Tuesday was the Christmas Cel-
ebration of the Arts, where drama, music,
and visual arts students'had a chance to
show off their talents. The evening
offered .musical performances by both.
the concert band and the rock band at St.
Anne's, as well as short plays written and
performed by drama students, and a vis-
ual art display and handmade card sale.
Thursday, December 8 brought stu-
dents the opportunity to participate in
Advent Reconciliation, where sins could
be forgiven, or students could simply
choose to talk to one of the priests about
something in their lives. Also on Thurs-
day was African Culture Night, a cultural
exploding soiree that offered a silent auc-
tion featuring beautiful artwork from
local artists and students, performances
by Ballet Creole, and a traditional African
meal. The night was a great success and
funds will go towards building an agri-
cultural school in Kenya, to go along with
the school built thereyears just a fewago
that was funded
ytheSt.Anne's
community.
St. Anne's Semi Formal 201 1 is fast
approaching and Student Cabinet con-
tinue to prepare for the "Neverland"
themed event, as ticket sales began on
Wednesday, December 7 and will go
until the 14.
