up," said event coordinator
Mary Nesbit. "If they come,
we will feed them and if they
don't, they've made other
plans.'
Up for grabs this Christmas
is a full festive spread, Nesbit
says. A traditional Christmas
dinner complete with turkey,
potatoes, turnip, dressing
and Christmas pudding will
be served hot, "just like you'd
have if you went to grand-
ma's." Ticket sales for the
event .wrapped up Friday, Dec. 9 in
Goderich, and Nesbit noted that feast-
ers are coming from outside of Goderich
this year, including three from Zurich,
two from Wingham and Clinton respec-
tively and at least one from Blyth.
Volunteer power is still being sought
for the event; and Nesbit says anyone
interested in helping out for about an
hour on Christmas afternoon should
contact her directly at 519-440-0806.
Some have even been volunteering
since the first event, and all have said
helping out adds. to their holiday cheer.

Dutrizac said the new use
of social media platforms
isn't just a way to share the
current campaign, but: will be
a learning experience as well.
"This is also an opportunity
to see what engagement is
out there," she said, adding
that the HPCDSB social
media presence will continue
after the holidays.
"We haven't engaged like
this before," she said.
Dutrizac said that although
these digital methods are
new, the focus on communi-
cation between schools, par-
ishes, students and families
has always been the same,
whether it takes place at
schools, through newsletters
or on Facebook.
"It's another tool," she said,
adding that she hopes staff,
students and parents will pro-
vide feedback on how the
board is doing.

FM 107.7 Stratford, feature
Dutrizac and St. Aloysius

you've done something that helps other
people."
Originally coined the Christmas Din-
ner for Those Alone, the event was
established in 2004. Neal Nickles won-
dered aloud to his wife Moe how sad it
must be to be alone at - Christmas. So
concerned was he that the Christmas
spirit was being lost on some members
of our community, Neal gathered
together a small group of volunteers and
quickly organized the first dinner hosted
at Knox Presbyterian.
Twenty-two people who otherwise
would have spent their Christmas alone
=J
in an empty house or apartment, joined
together that first year fora feast and fel-
lowship. The following year in 2005, the
number grew to :36 people, and in 2010
the dinner was sold out.
"This is not just for the needy," Nickles
told the Signal -Star in 2006, "and not
just the poor, but anyone who is alone at
Christmas. We invite those people to
join us for dinner ... instead of playing
with the remote all afternoon."
The dinner is set to be served at 3:15
p.m., and attendees will also be treated
to a little serenade on St. George's baby.
