"This is what 1 want to do. It is my

the front line of ending violence.."

United shared her own story of
abuse, and offered a prayer for all
victims, their families and the fami-
lies of those who commit the acts of
violence.
"We honour the women and chil-
dren whose potential was so short-
lived," she said. "We honour all
women who live in fear for their
safety."
A candlelit procession, a moment
of silence and laying of roses for
each of the 14 young women,
repeated now 22 times in Goderich,
proved no less important or
effective.
Huron Women's Shelter Executive
Director Michele Hansen noted she
was blessed to have so many people
remember and partake in the sol-
emn ceremony every year for the
past,22 years.

About 25 people gathered at the Courthouse December 6 to
remember the victims of the Montreal Massacre and renew their
stand in the fight to end violence against women.
