And when it comes to toys;
many parents will do just about
anything to make sure that the
right ones will be waiting under
the tree on: Christmas morning.
In 1 952,. Mr. Potato Head
kicked off long list of number
one toys that parents grabbed
off shelves when it became the
first toy advertised on television.
In 1982, Cabbage Patch kids
were the must -have item and a
mother in Pennsylvania broke
her kg in a read dash at a store to
grab one. In 1996, Tickle Me
Elmo, a toy based on the charac-
ter Elmo from the children's tele-
vision show Sesame Street,
caused the same kind of frenzy,
as shortages on the shelves
canadianblackfriday.ca
caused tights 11 toy store aisles
and scalpers sold them in news-
paper classifieds for up to $2,000.
Last year, Zhu Zhu the Pet
Hamster was a blockbuster hit
at toy stores across Canada.. Un-
like Boxing Day, Black Friday
gives Canadian consumers a
chance to get their holiday
shopping done early, and also
find the items they most want.
With the Canadian dollar
performing so well against its
American counterpart, it ap-
pears that Canadian Black Fri-
day could also enjoy its
biggest day ever
north of the
border at malts
and online.
