Christmas time is coming and
the familiar sight of the Salvation
Army kettle is popping up in com-
munities across Huron County.
At the Goderich Pirates Nov. 19
game Captain Bram Pearce
unveiled their 2011 goal - the Ket-
tle Campaign is looking to raise
$55,000 this. year across the
county.
All funds brought stay in the
community, and Pearce said that
means money raised in Goderich
stays in Goderich. Already, he
said, he knows the generosity of
the community and beyond.
Following the tornado on
August 21, the SA received an out-
pouring of support from across
North America, taking in so many
donations of food and clothing,
they needed to be stored off-site
around the community.
Meanwhile, applications for the
Christmas Hamper Campaign are
coming in and more are invited,
said Shannon Daniels of the SA
Family Services. Last year, 110
hampers were distributed, and
Daniels said she expects that
number to rise this year.
Anyone interested in volun-
teering their time with the ham-
pers or on the kettles is asked to
call the Salvation Army at 519-
524-8822.
