lit for the duration of the festival. The grand symbol of the
season will be located in the park's area between South
and Montreal Streets.
"We're really delighted in including the publics in our
ceremony this year with tree decorations," Keith said.
Last week, she visited area elementary schools and. long
term health centres armed with tokens of the festivesea-
son for individual decoration.
Card stock featuring the Festival's 2011 theme logo has
been distributed for kids to decorate themselves. Any over-
flow will be available at Town Hall.
Keith said the artists are invited to attend the lighting of
the lights ceremony Saturday evening to add their very
own marker to the giant Christmas tree.
She said helpers will be on site tohelp with the tall order,
and pipe cleaners will also be available to help attach the
decorations to boughs or fencing. •
The community's static displays will return to the park's
area between Montreal and South Streets, and a reduced
number of potted evergreens and wire baskets will return
and be lit between Montreal and i iamilton Streets.
The official lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. on
November 19 with the Goderich Laketown Band perform-
ing while the tree decoration taken place. The lights will go
on at 7 p.m.,.before the annual Santa Claus Parade begins
Its route at 7:15 p.m.
"It's going to be different, but we're going to make it as
festive as we can," Keith added. "I had a good image from
our minister about a forest. When a forest is ravaged by
fire, :burnt and charred, that is a rebirth for the forest.
While it's rebirthing, it's chaotic.
But In. the chaos are all sorts of possibilities for re-
growth. So in the chaos of all this construction there are
lots of positives.
The spirit of the people, that's what I'm trying to cele-
brate; the spirit of the Town of Goderich."
