Flu shot clinic set up in Suncoast Mall
Vaccination is the best prevention
4)
As the weather changes
and the leaves fall it signals
the start of flu season.
The HurQn County. Health
Unit is advising peopleto get
their flu shot early this year
and free clinics have been set
up around the county to serv-
ice the need.
Everyone is at risk of con-
tracting influenza and it is
important to get vaccinated
to prevent the onset of flu but
also to .provide a measure of
protection for others.
People need to remember
they are also getting a flu shot
to protect those around them
as the. respiratory illness is
easily passed on to others
and can lay people up for a.
week or more with fever,

muscle aches, exhaustion, chills and
other symptoms.
Locally, a public flu clinic will be held.
at Suncoast Mall in Goderich on
Wednesday, November 16 from 3 to 7
p.m.
People are advised to wear short
sleeves; have something to eat before.
coming to the clinic and be prepared to
wit for 15 minutes after the shot has
been administered. A driver's licence or
OHIP card will speed up registration.
The Huron County Health Unit said
earlier last week that no positive cases
of the flu had been reported but that
colds were certainly circulating around
the area;
The best thing a person can do to pre-
vent the flu is to get the vaccination,
stay at home if you are sick and get rest,
wash your hands frequently and sneeze
into your sleeve or the crook of your
arm.
A 1 .. t t_# t Unit spokesperson said that
young people and the elderly are
encouraged to get a flu shot and preg-
nant women as well, since their
immune system is weakened.
The turnout for the flu shot clinic in
Clinton was brisk.
Flu shots are also available at the
Maitland Valley Medical Centre for
patients of physicians in that facility.
