Bantam Rep Sailors won two back-to- es ackto- es to start their season off on the right foot. The third period saw MacPhee once again tuck it sisted by De Jager, putting the Sailors in the lead, 4-3. minutes left, Souch capitalized on a power play and nassisted, making it 5-3 Goderich. The Sailors worked a well-deserved win. the Bantam Reps battled a tough St Mary's Rock team 'ice on October 22, and despite the loss, they exempli- and character throughout the game. n twenty seconds of the opening face -oft the Sailors ting hard and fast and netted their first goal. A shot from Jager was blocked by the St. Mary's goalie, but Mykal there for the rebound. 1-0 Sailors, with an assist also Dominic Burbine. St. Mary's started the second period with a bang, scoring three goals in succession, to put them up 5-2. The Sailors wouldn't let the period end that way though, as they regained one when Tyler Johnston and Rylan Lamb assisted De Jager in a diving backhand that found its mark, 5-3 St. Mary's. The third period was a tough one, with three more St. Mary's goals being scored, but despite that, the Sailors showed heart and a never - give -up attitude as they continued to fight tenaciously, win some battles, and show perseverance right to the end. The final score was 8-3 for the Rock, but we know our boys will be ready for the rematch on November 9. On October 23, the SC Inc Bantam Rep team traveled to Sea - forth and was successful in shutting out the Seaforth Stars in a one-sided match. The Sailors were hungry for a win from the opening whistle. They quickly put together a lovely play that saw Trier Dickson net the first goal of the game on passes from Eric MacPhee and Ethan Lajeunesse, 1-0 Sailors. A shot from Steve De Jager found its mark just a few seconds later, 2-0. Just as quickly Chase Kulich passed the puck up to De Jager once again who banked the third goal of the night to put them ahead by three. The game was laden with Goderich penalties, but their strong offense and solid penalty killing prevailed. Just before the first period ended, Nick Souch assisted De Jager on his third of the night, 4-0 Goderich Great defensive plays. by Goderich kept the Stars from scor- ing on what seemed like never-ending power plays. Even short- handed, our boys were able to keep the pressure up and keep the Seaforth team from penetrating our zone. At 6:22 of the second, Kyle Langlois passed the puck up to De Jager who slipped it by the Seaforth goalie, 5-0. Kulich netted his first of the night a few minutes later, making it 6-0 Goderich. Souch scored on an impressive backhand shortly into the third period, 7-0 Sailors. Langlois also nabbed his first of the evening, assisted by Kulich, putting our boys up by eight. Nearing the end of the period, Kulich scored again on a smooth pass by MacPhee, 9-0. And with 8.5 seconds left in the game, Lajeunesse banked the last goal of the night from Kulich and De Jager, for a 10-0 final score. Branden Bean earned the shut outwith help from his solid defensive team: Eric MacPhee, Thomas Pritchard, Rylan Lamb, Langlois, and Lajeunesse. The Sailors battled the Walkerton Capitals the next night and once again showed character and determination to come from behind and rally for the victory. With Jordan Johnson between the pipes, the Sailors were off to a quick start once again as Tyler Dick- son rifled one from Rylan Lamb and Tyler Johnston to put the Goderich boys u[ 1-0 twenty seconds into the game.
