The Goderich Pirates travelled to Med-
ford Saturday night and came away with
another road win making ft a clean sweep
winning both their games this weekend.
The Pirates, still pumped from their win
on Friday night in Monkton, defeated the
Dirty Dogs by a score of 7-4. The newly
formed line of Matt MacPhee, Josh
Gaynor, and Kyle Provily were in on five of
the Pirates seven goals. Gaynor scored a
natural hattrick in the second period and
also added an assist on one of MacPhee's
goals in the second period.
MacPhee also scored on a shorthanded
breakaway while the Pirates were killing
off a five-minute major penalty after Jeff
Sliver was called for a questionable head
checking penalty. MacPhee had a pair of
goals and a pair of assists while linemate
Provily added one assist on the evening.
Other goal scorers for the Pirates were
Glen McCarron on the powerplay and
Dave Meriam also scored with just over
two minutes remaining in the game. With
Burton's assist on that goal, it leaves him
one assist shy of 500 for his career and
nine points shy of 1000. Getting the win in
net was Tyler Koot earning his second win
of the weekend. Koot stopped 38 of the 42
shots he faced on the night and also had
an assist on MacPhee's shorthanded goal.
Up next for the Pirates is the first place
Tavistock Royals this corning Friday night
November 4 at the MRC at 8:30pm.
Hockey Gains is the game sponsor. Any-
one that goes into the store Hockey Gains
and gets a skate sharpening or makes a
purchase will receive a free ticket to Friday
wt's game.
The Pirates defeated last years "AA"
finalist by a score of 5-3. The. Pirates got off
to their usual early start when Matt
MacPhee'scored high in the slot with
assists going to Mike Gillen and Grant
Gresko. Monkton answered back with two
goals of their own less than a minute apart
to take a 2-1 lead after one period. The
Pirates were able to de the game 2-2 with a
nice little between the legs goal by Pirates
forward Kyle Provily with assists going to
Chris MacKay and Josh Gaynor. In the
third the Pirates scored three times with
Jeff Silver getting things started with a nice
shot up top. The goal was assisted by
Provily and MacKay. Provily made the
score 4-2 on a nice screen in front by
Pirates forward Aaron TuMn. Monkton
battled back to make things interesting at
4-3 but Meriam was able to bury the
empty netter to seal the win for the Pirates.
Assist on Meriam's goal went to McCarron
and MacPhee. Tyler Koot got the win in
net for the Pirates stopping 25 of the 28
shots.
