Committee looks for rural options for schools
SWEA, an economic alliance encompassing 15 counties in
Southwestern Ontario, has realized an injection of govern-
ment funds to stimulate economic activity in the region.
Barnim said SWEA had significant money that mightbe avail-
able to keep schools open.
The ARC will hold monthly public meetings at the school
before having to make its recommendation to the board in
March 2012. Board staff will recommend an option but the
final decision will be made the AMDSB board of trustees fol-
lowing input from ARC, staff, school communities and the
public.
The committee is composed of Bryan Olson and Helen
Lobb, representing Holmesville School, Darlene Hewitt and
Rebecca Ingham, representing Colborne Central School
while Alison Lobb, Central Huron and Connie Black, ACW
are the municipal reps on the committee. In opening state-
ments, all indicated their hope was "to do the best for the kids
and education."
The next meeting is schedule for Nov. 23 at the Victoria
campus of Colborne School in Goderich.
