ball; held indoors while there was still
snow outside. Approximately 70 kids
participated in four different age
groups for six weeks.
Goderich again hosted three suc-
cessful OB/ sanctioned tournaments
in June and July for Rookie, Mosquito
and Pee Wee age players. A total of 44
teams came to Goderich to participate
in these tournaments.
On the development side, two pitch-
ing clinics were held to help young
pitchers perfect the art of hurling and
three coaching clinics were held. to
assist up and coming coaches as well
as those experienced ones better
interact with kids and teach the fun-
damentals of the game
Two Goderich teams went on to
compete in OBA year-end tourna-
ments in Kingsville and. Belle River.
Unfortunately, strong competition
prevented the
Goderich squads from coming
home with any medals.
Particularly worthy of note is the
support that the Goderich community
offered in the Spring in the face of the
vandalism of the baseball equipment
storage facility. Many generous busi-
nesses, organizations and individuals
offered time and
financial support to ensure baseball
had a.succesfui year in Goderich.
As we head into the winter months,
Goderich Minor Baseball is recruiting
for volunteers to replace some retiring
members of the executive to
ensure continuity of the pro-
grams offered and that baseball
continues it's proud presence in
Goderich.

Two weekends ago, the GDa senior girls basketball team rose to the rank of champions at a tournament
hosted by Kincardine. The Vikes beat Saugeen Secondary 25-18, Kincardine DSS #2 24-16 and Kincardine #1
27-21. Last weekend the team travelled to the metropolis of Clinton to the St. Anne's tournament. The girls
were beaten by North Middlesex 39-18 (Emily Gordon 6 points), before defeating St. Anne's 26-22 (Emily
Gordon 8, Haley Bowler -Cooke 6) and London Christian 29-19 (Haley Bowler -Cooke 9, Sierra Lamb 8) to
become Consolation Champions! It may not be a big team in numbers or in height but the girls -never get out-
worked! The girls are at home this Wednesday all day in the west gym.
