Employees told
layoff could be
temporary
Sky Harbour Aircraft Ltd.
has suspended operations
for the time being due to lack
of work and a long-term
employee says that as many
as 50 workers have been laid
off.
The employee, who did not
want to be identified, said
that the complete staff was
laid off and the announce-
ment was made to the group
on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The company said it was
shutting down and employ-
ees were told that they were
trying to get work and that
employees would be recalled
when the order book
warranted.
Sky Harbour is renowned
for its plane refinishing and
much of the work comes
from the United States. The
strength of theCanadian dol-
lar, the employee said, played
a role in the lack of work at
the facility.
The business has always
experienced slower times. the
employee said adding that
he would stay optimistic
about the .business
re -opening.
Blockbuster closes
The Blockbuster video store on Highway 8 near the Zehrs plaza closed its store for good on
Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Goderich store has been in operation for about 15 years at that
location and is one of the Canadian franchises that were closed the past few months after
liquidating stock.
