Thompson took shots at the NDP's
plan to put a stop to new nuclear

ated like the Local Health Integration
Networks (LH!N) adding that voters
deserve and "apology" from incum-
bent Carol Mitchell, which was
answered with applause from the
crowd.
Valenta introduced himself as a
crusader against family courts, as he
believes his children got a 'raw deal"
in his divorce.
"Sonne people have said I'm wast-
ing their time and I'm sorry, but
there's nothing more important than
family and that's why I run," he said.
Mitchell kicked off by outlining
why the Liberal plan is "working so
su since they took office in
2003, noted their government's three
balanced budgets and said they were

with investments in education, water

"We are committed to eliminating
the deficit with a lot of hard work and
working together;' said Mitchell. "We
want to ensure Ontario remains
strong. Bruce Power has guaranteed
jobs for years to come. Huron -Bruce
is an engine in the province and will
continue to be so with targeted
investment."
Robertson said he was saddened to
see his fellow candidates stupe to
"personal attacks" and "smearing" of
each other, referring to Mitchell's
introduction as a "pork barrel speech"
referring to her government's spend-
ing habits.
"To take credibility for these things
is just wrong," said Robertson, adding
that attack ad politics do nothing to
solve the issues of the day. "The spi-
ralling down of publish discourse has
to stop. It's about crushing your oppo-
nent, not how to accomplish- -things."
Robertson committed to working
with his constituents to find solutions,

while working with members of all
parties, rather than working against
each other. With one in 10 youth
unemployed in the province, no par-
ties are acknowledging it as an issue
or are providing solutions.
"People from other parties also
have solutions," he said. '"I'm asking

solutions, find common ground and
let's get on to moving this province
forward.
The first question asked of Mitchell
was of the 18 new hospital listed in
the Premier Progress report and
where they are.
Mitchell said she couldn't name
them specifically, but said within
Huron -brace renovations have been
conducted in Exeter and Goderich,
with expansions planned for Wing-
ham, Kincardine and Southampton"
She committed to "providing the infor-
mation to the woman.
Robertson followed up by saying
constituents have told him they fear
for the hospital expansion, which they
were told will ,only be done if the Lib-
erals are reelected. He said the other
two parties in office supported the
program as well.
Mitchell followed up by saying Kin-
cardine has waited 30 years for a new
hospital and every party has been in
power during that time and she will
continue to "work darn hard" to see it
a reality.
Huron -Kinloss' Lois Hackett asked
what the candidates governments
would do to improve Kincardine
hospital.
Mitchell said the community has
worked hard with the hospital board,
stag' and cornmunity groups, noting
her governments funding for plan-
ning grants and commitment to the
development that will see fund-
ing by the province and 10% by the
community.
Thompson took at shot at Mitchell,
saying her government has taken
eight years for a project that won't be
tendered until 2015. She said the PCs
have set aside $35 billion dedicated to
hospital builds, roads and other
projects.
"The time is now and this needs to
be addressed," she said, adding they
would do this by "trimming the
bureaucratic waste" like the LHINs.
"That will be one of the first -things to
go."
