The ureas of The Square
and Courthouse Park were of
particular interest to resi-
dents, with the suggestions
that the town naturalize the
space, enhance the `.wakabil-
ity' of the areas, make Court-
house Park "a gathering place
for all to enjoy" through a
comprehensive plan. It was
also noted that traditions
need to be upheld in these
spaces and an integrated
approach to development
taken through a long-term
plan.
Trees along the lakebank
and waterfront areas were
damaged or destroyed and
considerable planting is
required. Now the most

tional draw through a re-
evaluation of the town's.
waterfront master plan and
the addition of new features
that could simulate a salt
mine or marine experience,
the two main commercial
uses of the harbour that
attract visitors and interest.
Residents don't want to see
quick remedial action taken
at the expense of commercial
development and prudent
planning and judicious use
of the spaces available.
The meeting was hosted by

School of Environmental
Design and Rural Develop-
ment at the University of
Guelph, who has worked
with the Huron County Plan-

notes at each station that will be devel-
oped into a report on the specific issues
raised at the public forum and they will
also prepare a report on the public con-
sultation process.
Further, the students will present
designs and streetscape visuals that will
be presented for thought starters and
possible use in the town's plan.
The result of the first public forum
was that the residents would like to see
a comprehensive redevelopment plan
for major parks and green spaces and
also expect further consultation on the
matter. Councilor Michelle Hansen said
a follow up meeting would be organ-
ized within a three-week period.
